Prep is not often set in ICT, although occasionally pupils will be asked to collect information in their own time for projects

Pupils will often find it necessary to work on projects, like Common Entrance Geography, at home. It will be of great benefit if they are provided with a suitably named USB memory stick so that they can transfer work between home and school computers.
The boys’ network folders are monitored closely as is their internet usage. Anyone found to have searched for, or saved inappropriate material will have their rights to use the computers taken away for a period of time agreed by the Head of ICT and the boy’s form tutor.

Year 7 will be taking part in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style project. They will begin by choosing a concept for a product which they wish to develop, this might be an invention, a computer game, a vehicle or a company. They will then create a logo and a slogan developing an understanding of brand awareness. The next stage will be to research existing products and create an ideas board showing elements of these products that they will incorporate in their own designs. After this, they will begin to advertise their product in the form of a website and video advertisments. The second Year 7 group, will be learning some simple programming techniques, within the ‘Scratch’ environment. They will create simple animations and games using the commands that they have learnt.
