These are the members of the Spring 2009 School Council. The minutes from the latest meeting can be viewed by clicking on the link to the right.
School Council – Autumn 2008
The purpose of a school council is to enable pupils and staff to work together to build a better school environment. It allows pupils to represent their fellow classmates and liaise with school management about any concerns/ideas the pupils may have. These concerns/ideas are addressed and discussed. Many times a concern/idea may be rejected, but the reason for this will be given. It is often to do with health and safety issues. However, it is important that pupils understand why certain practices do/do not take place in school.
Meetings are held every half term and there will be an agenda. Any concerns/ideas will be discussed, as well as feedback from previous issues. School councillors do not have to raise an issue in each meeting.
The Role of a School Councillor
Boys are elected by their fellow classmates and accept the role of school councillor for their form. Their position will last for one term, but they may be re-elected. Their role includes:
- Being willing to listen to and put forward the opinions and concerns of your classmates, irrespective of whether they are your friends or not.
- Being willing to listen to and put forward the opinions and concerns of junior school pupils if they are approached.
- Approaching any issues/concerns in a positive and proactive manner.
- Attending school council meetings.
- Liaising with staff and pupils.
- Adopting a responsible attitude toward school life.
- Respecting school rules.
- Reporting back to their form and an allocated Junior School form about the meeting. This can be done during PSHE.

Congratulations to Sam Lerche Thomson for being an outstanding Chairman of the School Council Elections for the new council will take place during the first week back after the Easter holidays but the final action plan as discussed in the meeting on Friday 7th March can be seen below.
The Headmaster wrote to Sam after the meeting on the 22nd January. His response can be seen below.
Have a look at the action plan that the council presented to the Headmaster on Wednesday morning. He will be writing to the Chairman in the next few days and his reply will be discussed with the whole school during Thursday assembly next week.
