Congratulations to Dame Emily Lawson

Congratulations to Dr Emily Lawson who has been made a Dame in the New Year’s Honours list. Emily, whose son Jasper is in Year 8, is head of the world-leading NHS COVID vaccination programme and was recognised in the New Year Honours list alongside dozens of colleagues from across the health service.

Dr Lawson, a molecular geneticist by background, ran the first phase of the NHS vaccine programme before being seconded to Downing Street as head of the Prime Minister’s delivery unit. She has returned temporarily to lead the booster campaign. She has also been honoured for her work to improve women’s representation in boardrooms.

Emily has passed on the following message to the Moulsford community: “It’s been an honour to have been able to lead this programme, and it has been thanks to all the brilliant NHS teams and our supporters that we’ve been able to deliver so effectively. For me personally, the Moulsford community has been part of enabling me to do this demanding role, from providing a brilliant education (obviously), to supporting Jasper at school as the child of a key worker when me being away was clearly really affecting him, to conversations with Mr Beardmore-Gray at 8pm because it was the only slot I could do, to his friends’ parents having him round unexpectedly or doing pick ups or drop offs as Nick also delivered his full time role, to the feedback the community gave me on what we were doing. We are so lucky to have had this support as a family.”

Congratulations Emily and thank you for all you are doing.
