A Day in the Life of a Boarder

Boarding

Rupert T, Head of Boarding

I have been boarding since the summer of Year 7. While I've been here I've had many fantastic experiences such as the food, activities, and spending time with friends. When you finish your school day you walk up the front stairs (a Year 8 privilege!) and into the Boarding House where you get a warm greeting by members of staff, then you get phone time in which you can contact the outside world; friends and family. After that you walk down to delicious smells of exhilarating foods.

After you have finished your food we chat about what you would like to do in the evening; football, gymnastics, art challenges, torch game, hide and seek and many more. Then you have a prep session till half past seven where you can finish any prep that needs to be done. If you need to you can stay longer, and you can even do music practice in the music department. After the prep session you can go down to do your activities, which is always great fun. By eight thirty everyone has gone back up to the house and then they get showered.

Once showered you can go into the Common Rooms where you can get toast before bed, and on Tuesday you can get toasties. You can also watch television. On Thursday Year 8s get a tuck night which is where they can have a snack and watch a movie. I would say that one of my favourite things in boarding would be the activities because everyone is doing something and you are there as a group. The activities are great fun because everyone is playing with each other and it is just a very happy and welcoming place to be.
