Year 7’s Play, The Lion King, was a roaring success!
Last Wednesday, a little over five months since they first began auditioning for roles, the stage - beautifully constructed by a team led by Ms. Roberts and Mr Clements - was set for Year 7 to begin their first night of performances of The Lion King.
Each audience (and all the boys from Years 3-8 during our dress runs) saw just how much hard work had gone into these months. Not only had the cast needed to learn lines, perfect choreography and sing a multitude of songs (preferably in tune!), but this time around the entire cast were given two roles: each to be performed on two nights only.
Double casting allowed for far more opportunities among the boys meaning, for example, two graceful Nalas, two pompous Zazus, two wise-cracking Timon and Pumbaas and four Simbas, two young and two old!
While the casting decision certainly meant everyone had their work cut out, the boys rose magnificently to meet the challenge and the team spirit among the group was palpable throughout rehearsals and performances.
On behalf of myself, Mr Bissell, Mrs Clements and Miss Moore, a huge thank you to everyone who made the play such a success. The bar has certainly been set high for next year!
