At Moulsford, three things remain at the centre of our charity ethos; time, possessions and compassion, and it is with these three considerations in mind that we continue to move forward and reach out to those less fortunate than ourselves.
Over the last few years, we have introduced the boys to a number of different charities both local and international. We have endeavoured to support those charities not only in financial terms but also by increasing awareness by deliberately choosing the lesser known charities with rather limited advertising budgets. As a school we hold one main fundraising event each term.
In the Autumn term, we have the Moulsford Mudder, an obstacle course put together by the Moulsford grounds staff around the water meadow on school grounds. All the boys, staff and even parents are invited to join in. It is a very messy affair but terrific fun and hugely enjoyed by all. We have also had boys making and selling refreshments in the form of lemonade, flapjacks and brownies for the weary competitors to enjoy once they have completed the course. All funds raised go to support our school charities and it usually gets the fundraising off to an inspiring start.
In the Spring term, boys in Years 4 to 6 are invited to take part in the Moulsford Boys’ Cake Off. Each year our expectations are surpassed by the exceedingly good cakes that the boys enter into the competition. There are 3 rounds spread through the whole term with the boys in Years 7 and 8 judging the first 2 rounds: Tray Bakes and Cup Cakes. In the final Showstopper Round, the Moulsford catering staff choose the winner in each year group, as well as the overall winner, based on decoration as well as taste, before the Showstoppers are auctioned off within each year group. Over the years, we have had winners across a couple of different year groups and regardless of age or cooking ability, the Showstoppers are always quite incredible.
Moulsford’s Got Talent is one of the highlights of the school calendar and takes place in the Summer term with finalists from Years 5 to 8 taking part in solo or group acts and demonstrating a wide variety of different talents from singing, juggling and magic to mention just a few. It is hugely well attended by the whole Moulsford Community and is one of those truly heart-warming events that leaves everyone with a smile at the end. Representatives from the school charities for that year are also invited to attend as well as give a little presentation; to remind us all what it is all about. The preparations begin in the Autumn term and it is wonderful to see the excitement from all the boys as they prepare their acts in the hope of getting through the year group auditions.
The boys are also encouraged to support the school charities by taking part in events outside of school. Currently, our two chosen school charities are The Whale Company and Mary’s Meals. In previous years, we have raised over £7,500 for our school charities, and have offered support to many local and national good causes including Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, George Adamson Wildlife Protection Trust, Style Acre, Blue Skye Thinking, Macmillan Cancer Support and many others.
Moulsford also hosts an annual Sporting Lunch, which takes place at the RAC Club in London. With the support of ex-England rugby legend David Flatman, this event has raised £21,000 for Brain Tumour Research and over £9,000 for YoungMinds.
The biennial rugby tour to South Africa encourages the boys to think about the wider, international issues. The Moulsford Community raises funds for Goedgedacht Trust and Skrum, two specially selected charities based in South Africa and Swaziland. Moulsford has also supported a return visit from opposition players, with families hosting African boys and staff during their visit.
In addition to the fundraising activities organised by the school, we are always happy to support boys who wish to fundraise for other charities that are close to their hearts. The school’s Charity Team, which includes charity prefects from each year group, are always happy to help with fundraising endeavours.
With charitable fundraising featuring as an integral part of school life, Moulsford boys carry forward an innate sense of responsibility towards helping others, and a grounded attitude of their place in the world.

The annual WalkWithMe event, a fundraising 26 mile walk, was held on Sunday 13th May 2018. Originally conceived by a group of local mums in 2011, with the concept of “walking together to make a difference”, the event has the following aims:

The 2019 event will be held on Sunday 19th May, along with the return of the Little WalkWithMe, a 10 mile 'family' walk. Come on, let's
