With over 350 million people worldwide speaking it as their first language, there are many reasons to study Spanish.
At Moulsford we aim to develop pupils’ ability to understand and use Spanish effectively in order to communicate using all four linguistic skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. We foster an understanding and awareness of Spain, the people and their way of life, and we aim to offer an enjoyment, a sense of achievement and intellectual stimulation for all pupils. Ultimately, we aim to create independent language-learners, and to equip pupils with a valuable life-skill.
Spanish is taught throughout the school from Reception to Year 8. From Reception to Year 4, it is taught in tandem with French, with each taught in separate terms. From Year 5 to Year 8, pupils can choose to study it alongside French, instead of Latin.
To ensure that teaching is relevant, fun, and used in an authentic context, we hold various events throughout the school year. We hold a Spanish Tapas lunch in the summer term for Year 3, and a Spanish Language Day in the spring term.

I qualified as a teacher in 2003 from the Institute of Education in London and taught French and Spanish at secondary level before moving to Oxfordshire to take up my role as Head of Spanish at Moulsford in 2006.
I feel very passionately about languages and strongly believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to benefit from learning another language as endless doors can be opened, and armed with languages, the world truly is your oyster. I enjoy my role at Moulsford enormously and feel very privileged to be a part of the Moulsford Community. Teaching at Moulsford, every day is different and new opportunities often present themselves, you have only to seize them.
I enjoy cycling, running and swimming in my free time as well as listening to music, all sorts. My priority outside of school is my family, I have 2 girls who provide me with hours of fun and laughter. I love travelling and look forward to many family adventures as my girls get older.
