Great first Rugby Sevens Tournaments of the Season

U12s at Aldro

The U12s enjoyed a great afternoon of sevens at Aldro. The boys played attractive, expansive rugby throughout the afternoon, and were complimented by many of the opposition teams for the way they were trying to play.

The boys put in a huge amount of effort and managed to edge out some close games in the group stages to qualify as winners of the group. The boys faced Aldro in the first round of the final, and managed to pull back a 17-0 half time deficit to draw the game 17-17. The boys then faced Shrewsbury House immediately after, which proved a step too far with Shrewsbury House finishing deserved winners. All in all a great day’s rugby for the boys and a very promising start to the sevens season.

U11s at Packwood

Earlier this week, the U11A and B sevens squads made their way up to the Packwood Sevens tournament. After a 3 1/2 hour drive, the boys tucked into pizza and salad before going off to play with the Packwood boarders. The boys then stayed in the Packwood boarding house on Tuesday evening. The next morning saw them enjoy a filling breakfast before doing some training in preparation for the afternoon sevens festival.

Excellent and competitive games were played against schools including St Olave’s, St Mary’s Hall and St Bede’s, with the B team performing very well in an A team competition.

During the festival, both teams played five games and learnt a lot about how to play the game of sevens. On the way home, we stopped for the annual pilgrimage to KFC at Warwick Services before returning back to Moulsford.
