Viking Experience Day
Year 3 had a very exciting (and noisy) time on their trip to Ufton Court on Tuesday for their Viking experience day. They learned battle tactics and manoeuvres, including how to build a shield wall and protect the ‘Yarl’. After this the boys had a chance to put the skills they had learned into action in an epic battle between the Vikings and Anglo Saxons. After a well-deserved lunch and a bit of downtime, they climbed aboard their Viking longship and shouted fearsome chants to the sound of an ominous drum beat. They raided European countries, collecting treasure and artefacts, which they then learned all about. The day was a huge amount of fun and really helped the boys to understand more about such a significant period of history.
