Talks and Assemblies Old Moles

Snakes, scorpions and other interesting creatures!

On Thursday afternoon the boys in Years 7 and 8 and some of the Pre-Prep were fortunate to have a visit from Michael Noone who is the Head of Biology at Radley College and one of his current Lower Sixth students, Peter Stern, an Old Mole.

The boys were immediately introduced to the snakes Michael had brought along by placing an incredibly friendly, if not large, Boa constrictor called Cocoa around his neck.  He then proceeded to talk to the boys about Cocoa and all the other interesting animals he had brought along with him, which included more snakes, as well as scorpions, tortoises, a lizard and a rather cute hedgehog. He promises to bring along some spiders next time.

The two things that stood out for me during the afternoon were when Arthur U wore Cocoa as an interesting scarf and hat combo and, about half way through the session, the Headmaster got the fright of his life whist showing prospective parents around, when he nearly trod on one of the tortoises that was roaming around the classroom floor!
