Tree-mendous assembly

On Thursday, the first day of December, 6O performed an assembly focussing on National Tree Week, which runs from 26th November to 4th December and is the beginning of the winter planting season. The boys had put a lot of work into making it the best they could; identifying trees around the School, writing extended and haiku poems, raps and completing some tree-mendous art work. There was a focus on how trees can help reduce carbon in the atmosphere as well as helping wildlife, creating oxygen, purifying our air and being beautiful hence improving mental health.

The boys acted out a court case with real and fake Christmas trees going head to head. In the end our judge decided in favour of real Christmas trees as they help fight climate change, support forests and wildlife while supporting local tree farmers and helping maintain healthy forests for generations to come. There was lots of excitement for the audience when Mr Symonds played higher or lower in the 6O 'Play Your Trees Right'. The boys pitted him against the maximum height trees are known to grow. The assembly ended with a code; the national trees of the teams playing in the World Cup. Well done to all of 6O for a super assembly.
