Carousel of activities for Humanities

At the end of last term, Year 5 spent a morning doing a carousel of activities to help them understand more about their Humanities topic of Sikhism. Throughout the morning the boys were fully immersed in different elements of the Sikh religion. To represent the Kara, they made friendship bracelets, they did good deeds by making Christmas cards for a local care home in order to become a Gurmukh, they played the board game Carrom and they learned more about rhythms and clapping in the Music Room. A rather more peaceful activity involved meditation with the boys involved in Suniai, which means deep listening.

The morning was finished off with the boys all sitting on the floor to enjoy lunch together. However, not before they had prepared it! Outside they prepared and baked naan breads in the pizza oven and cooked daal on stoves outside. The kitchen had also made some delicious curries to accompany the boys’ dishes. It was a fantastic way to be immersed in their subject and the boys all learned a great deal.
