Year 3 visit Ufton Court
Year 3 had a very exciting time at Ufton Court on Tuesday for their Viking experience day. They learned battle tactics and manoeuvres, including how to build a shield wall and protect the ‘Yarl’. They then climbed aboard a Viking longship and shouted fearsome chants to the sound of an ominous drumbeat. They raided European countries, collecting treasure and artefacts, which they then learned all about. After a well-deserved lunch and a bit of downtime, the boys had a chance to put the skills they had learned earlier in the day into action, in an epic battle between the Vikings and Anglo Saxons. The day was a huge amount of fun and really helped the boys to understand more about life in Viking times.
