Staff Head of Department

I graduated from the West London Institute (College of Brunel University) with a BSc in Sports Science and Geography and Environmental Issues, followed by a PGCE in PE, and have worked at Moulsford since 1998, when I started teaching junior Geography and Games.  I was the Director of Sport from 2000 until I took over the boarding house in 2002.  I have been Head of Geography since 2004.

I am passionate about teaching the boys to see how other people live and introducing them to other cultures.  The conservation of both wildlife and environments is vital, and the boys may be in a position, in the future, to make significant impacts on their protection.  I have worked on conservation projects and visited schools in Africa and Central America, seeing first hand why it is important for our boys to understand the wider world.

Prior to teaching at Moulsford, I was a full time sportsman, and represented Great Britain at Bobsleigh for six years. I travelled the world competing, including taking part in two Winter Olympic Games (in Lillehammer, Norway in 1994, and Nagano, Japan in 1998). Prior to that I was a Junior and Under 23 International Athlete.

I now spend much of my spare time on the river kayaking. I have completed the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race (125 miles) four times, and race for Pangbourne Canoe Club.  I am a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.  I am married to Clare, the Head of Year 4, and have two children, who are both now at Cokethorpe.
