Staff Head of Department

My ambition to be an art teacher started when I was very small. Growing up in the beauty of Cornwall, it was hard not to find inspiration everywhere. Over the years, I have dabbled in a range of disciplines, from textiles and fine art to photography and ceramics– I enjoy learning new processes and getting my hands messy!

I graduated from Falmouth University in 2011 with a BA degree in Contemporary Crafts, which gave me the opportunity to explore a wide variety of disciplines including ceramics, glass and jewellery making. I first dipped my toes into teaching as an art technician at Hazlegrove Prep school before returning to Cornwall to get married and complete a PGCE in Design Technology. I finally made the permanent move from Cornwall to Salisbury, where I taught DT, Art and Photography up to GCSE in an all-girls secondary school for 6 years.

I love to see pupils be amazed at their own work and overcome the ‘I can’t draw’ mindset. In the words of Picasso, “every child is an artist”, and it is my great pleasure to help each one discover their discipline.

In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors; cultivating my garden, or getting lost in the woods with my family. I am kept very busy by my two children who I enjoy drawing, painting and making a mess with at weekends!
