Every term we welcome a group of young people to the school to work as Junior Teaching Assistants. As parents are not coming on site right now, we thought it would be useful to get to know them a little better…….

 

Name: Archie Friend

Area in the school you are mainly working in: Pre-Prep

  • Where were you previously at school? 

Millfield (Somerset)

  • What did you do over the Summer?

I was in Devon (Salcombe) and I went surfing, played golf, went to the beach and I learnt how to kite surf.

  • Do you have any connection to Moulsford? What has brought you here?

I am an Old Mole.

  • What has changed since you were last here?

The size of the school has grown enormously, the classrooms next to the cricket nets are new and Learning Support has grown.

  • Which teachers most inspired you during your time here?

Henry Weeks, Annabel Bush, Richard Martin

  • Do you have any lasting Moulsford memories that you would like to share with us?

Speaking in front of the school at prize giving, playing rugby on the first team pitch, getting my CE results.

  • What is your main reason for spending time as a JTA during your gap year?

I want to gain experience and also give back to the school.

  • What are you most looking forward to during your time at Moulsford?

Helping out sports teams and trying to develop younger children’s ability to play sport and increase their enjoyment.

  • What are your plans after Moulsford?

Hopefully looking to go out to New Zealand and play rugby for 5 months to increase my rugby level. I am then going to study Sports Performance at Bath University .

 

Name: Billie Moore

Area in the school you are mainly working in: Year 3 and Sport

  • Where were you previously at school? 

Reading Bluecoat School

  • What did you do over the Summer?

As I enjoy playing sport, I spent most of the summer on the hockey pitch, tennis court and golf course

  • Do you have any connection to Moulsford? What has brought you here?

My brother goes to school here.

  • What is your main reason for spending time as a JTA during your gap year?

To gain full time working experience and immerse myself in a learning environment.

  • What are you most looking forward to during your time at Moulsford?

To get involved as much as possible within all areas of the school and gaining experience helping in the classroom where children develop their abilities.

  • What are your plans after Moulsford?

To live in Spain in order to improve my linguistic skills before university.

 

Name: Connie Dutton

Area in the school you are mainly working in: Learning Support

  • Where were you previously at school? 

Stowe School, Buckinghamshire

  • What did you do over the Summer?

I split my time between being a tennis coach and working on adventure courses – however I often snuck off to the Essex coast to have some beach time!

  • Do you have any connection to Moulsford? What has brought you here?

My younger brother went here, and I also went to Cranford House for a few years.

  • What is your main reason for spending time as a JTA during your gap year?

Getting a chance to involve myself in a teaching environment and help prepare me for my future roles.

  • What are you most looking forward to during your time at Moulsford?

Gaining experience and learning to work with and alongside children.

  • What are your plans after Moulsford?

Next September I shall be attending OMBS and then hopefully doing seasons on yachts!

Area in the school you are mainly working in: Sports and Boarding

  • Where were you previously at school?

St. Edward’s School, Oxford.

  • What did you do over the Summer?

I worked for Hello Fresh in Banbury and also ventured down to Kent.

  • Do you have any connection to Moulsford? What has brought you here?

I am an Old Mole.

  • What has changed since you were last here?

New dining area for staff, new buildings by the swimming pool.

  • Which teachers most inspired you during your time here?

Jess Roberts, James Springer

  • Do you have any lasting Moulsford memories that you would like to share with us?

The wide range of opportunities.

  • What is your main reason for spending time as a JTA during your gap year?

Good work experience for what I want to do in the future.

  • What are you most looking forward to during your time at Moulsford?

The sport.

  • What are your plans after Moulsford?

I am heading off to Oxford Brookes to study Sports, Coaching and Physical Education.

 

Name: Tom Beardmore-Gray

Area in the school you are mainly working in: Year 4 and Sport

  • Where were you previously at school? 

Radley College

  • What did you do over the Summer?

I worked at Moulsford for three weeks in the summer term, went to France for a week, went to Cornwall, I am now a curry master and I learnt how to produce music!

  • Do you have any connection to Moulsford? What has brought you here?

You may recognise my name - Dad is the head!  And my brother was at school here.

  • What is your main reason for spending time as a JTA during your gap year?

To gain some teaching experience and do some sports coaching.

  • What are you most looking forward to during your time at Moulsford?

Getting to know the boys, and sports coaching

  • What are your plans after Moulsford?

I am spending 6 months in Tignes for the ski season and then I am hoping to go to Kenya, followed by Newcastle University next September to read History.
