Jaimie Noble - Head of Boarding

Staff SMT

During the school day, I indulge my loves of teaching English and of coaching sport. In the classroom, a passion for reading and for the English language are a driving force, and whether through Morpurgo, Dahl, Conan-Doyle or Dickens, exploring the multiple facets of the English curriculum through literature, is something that I particularly enjoy. I hold a degree in English along with a PGCE and MEd.

At university, the serious side of life was rather similar, as I balanced an English degree at Leeds, with cricket and the year round MCC funded UCCE program with the Leeds/Bradford team. I have also been fortunate enough to represent English Universities at cricket, playing in the Home Nations tournament, as well as playing in the Minor Counties Championships for Oxfordshire. Golf has become my primary sport of choice to play, and outside of school hours I love a round at Huntercombe or The Springs. We love to travel, with recent summer exploits taking us to places including Australia, South Africa, Italy and France.

I first experienced boarding at Prep School and then learnt a huge deal as a person during my five years as a boarder at Rugby, where I was lucky to have a superb Housemaster. I am acutely aware therefore that boarding is an environment which can be so incredibly rewarding, but also one in which the need for strong pastoral care is implicit.

Mrs Noble’s degree in Business and Management led her to a graduate programme at Siemens, where she was quickly made responsible for managing the Operations team in the South West for the company’s Traffic Solutions business. Also keen on sport, Mrs Noble represented Cheshire at netball in her teens and has continued to play a high level of club netball. Horse-riding, walking and family and friends are also great loves. As Head of Year 3, Mrs Noble loves the variety of the curriculum, always trying to find new and innovative ways to bring all aspects of the boys’ learning to life.

Our daughter Rose was the latest additon to the Noble household and the boys enjoy having a lively toddler around the Boarding House. Last but not least is Basil, our typically bouncy labrador, who quickly established himself as a great companion to boys and staff alike.
