The A Squad

The Neurodiverse Peer Support Group for pupils with a diagnosis of Autism and/or ADHD/ADD - or the much more succinct title: the 'A' Squad (as named by the boys) - was run on 1st December. It was delightful to have the group together again and the event was full of festive fun - the boys took great delight in throwing hoops at Mrs Laming's Reindeer antlers. We looked at role models who have a diagnosis or a probable diagnosis, such as Elon Musk and Richard Branson. The boys took time to discuss the advantages of having a diagnosis and also spontaneously chatted about the assessment itself before enjoying a pizza lunch. We had a rematch of the marshmallow tower challenge and the 'squad' engaged in some great teamwork. Fifteen pupils from Year 3 to Year 8 attended this extremely positive and supportive event.  Next term the Squad will be looking beyond the label focusing on their strengths.
