Launch of the Sustainability Policy

This week saw the launch of Moulsford's new Sustainability policy. The urgent need for this policy was explained to the boys in Monday's assembly and they were informed of the many changes the school is making to its fabric to become a more sustainable place. Every boy from Year 3-8 took part in a very hands-on workshop with Green Up Your Act throughout the week, making notebooks from recycled maps or microgreen gardens and learning about food miles in the process. This half term has also seen a number of boys on the river on Planet Patrol and litter picking around the school grounds and local community. However, this is a long term change and cannot be forgotten about now that the launch week is over.

After half term we will be having focussed weeks to encourage the boys (and staff and parents) to make long term changes to the way they behave in order to make this policy sustainable! We already have a number of eco clubs up and running and we will be electing eco committees in the near future to monitor our progress and to come up with new initiatives to help us on our way to becoming carbon neutral. Climate change is a very real threat to our way of life and I would like Moulsford, as a community, to recognise this and do whatever we can do to be part of the solution. Educating ourselves and our boys about such matters is the biggest thing we can do right now.
