Arion Earns a Place at the Royal College of Music

We are delighted to hear more good news from one of our Old Moles, Arion Thompson, who left Moulsford in 2019 earning a Music Scholarship to Bradfield College.

Arion applied online for a place at the Royal College of Music Junior Department in March 2021.

He applied very late in the application process and submitted two short contrasting pieces. The College responded very quickly following closure of the application process with an offer of a place along with a scholarship, which meant there was no need to go through the planned second stage selection process. Only three scholarships were awarded by the College this year.

Arion is excited at the prospect of attending the college every Saturday from this September where he will have the opportunity to partake in individual music lessons, become part of an orchestra, attend ensembles and take advantage of other musical opportunities that take his interest. This will be a great opportunity that will hopefully show him where his musical talent could take him.

Attendance at the Royal College will be in addition to the musical activities that he is already engaged in at Bradfield College where he continues to learn three instruments, is part of a Pop Group, Saxophone Ensemble, Jazz Duet and a Piano Duet under the guidance of some great music teachers and the Director of Music Matt Lowe.

Arion’s parents would like to thank Arion's saxophone teacher Mr Bache, his drum teacher Mr Mead and classical guitar teacher Mr Firth for their help and support through Arion's many musical achievements whilst at Moulsford. They would especially like to thank Mr Bissell for his passion and inspirational guidance of Arion during his time at Moulsford.

Arion’s parents say that they are very proud parents, and we would like to echo that and congratulate Arion on this fantastic achievement.
