Head's Blog: Responding to the needs of the modern parent

Head's Blog

Modern life moves at a very fast pace, and there is surely no busier role in the 21st Century than being a parent! We recognise the incredibly full lives that parents lead, and the pressures this can bring to family life. One of Moulsford’s primary aims is to give your boys both an outstanding and a broad education. If we can achieve this while also acknowledging and responding to modern family living to help ease life for you and your boys, then we are very keen to do so. The school has in place what effectively amounts to wrap around care for your boys, but I thought that it would be worth detailing this as I suspect some parents may not be fully aware of all the available options.

For boys in Years 3 to 8, there is a breakfast club from 7.40am. At the end of the day, a combination of activity sessions (After School Activities) and Sibling Provision are available for all boys until 5.45pm. Boys can also stay for Day Boarding until 8pm, whereby they join the boarders for their supper, prep and additional activities. Jaimie and Sally Noble also run an excellent Boarding House, and boys can board either for two consecutive nights a week, or from Monday to Thursday nights. Please click here for further details of Moulsford boarding.  Jaimie and Sally will be offering another trial boarding week this term (w/b11th March) and more information will follow on this. Next term during Activities Week (w/b Monday 1st July), all the Year 4 boys will have the opportunity to spend two nights in the Boarding House as part of their activities programme. It is worth noting that historically a significant number of boys who are progressing to senior day schools have boarded while they are at Moulsford. Please book in with Jaimie Noble for either breakfast or boarding on [email protected].

We are now running three separate buses to Henley at the end of the school day, leaving at 4.20pm, 5.10pm and 5.55pm. This allows boys who live in the Henley area (of which there are roughly 125) to take full advantage of the activities programme.

For boys in the Pre-Prep, the day can start at 8.00am in the Library under the supervision of Mrs. Hartley or one of her staff. Activities and after-school care run until 5.45pm.
