Move Up Day at Moulsford is always one of the highlights of the school year, filled with a wonderful buzz of anticipation and discovery. Walking through the classrooms today, I was struck by the energy and excitement as children embraced their new surroundings.
For the pupils, Move Up Day offers a glimpse of the year ahead: meeting new teachers, making new friends, and exploring all the opportunities that September will bring. Behind the scenes, a great deal of careful thought goes into the composition of each class. We consider friendships, learning styles, and personalities to ensure that every child is placed where they will thrive. It’s a reminder that Move Up Day is not just about excitement, but about supporting each child on their unique journey.
For staff, today is a chance to begin forming those all-important relationships with their new classes, learning more about each child so that we can shape a truly engaging and rewarding experience in the year ahead.
It has also been a particularly special Move Up Day this year as we welcomed our very first girls into the Prep School—a milestone moment that marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Moulsford’s story. The transition from the Pre-Prep into the Prep School is a particularly significant step, and it was a joy to see so many confident, curious faces exploring their new learning environment.
At the other end of their Moulsford journey, our Year 8 pupils marked the end of their Common Entrance exams in time-honoured fashion, wearing their ties as bandanas and racing around the school grounds before heading off for a well-deserved Mr Whippy ice cream. This was possibly our first ever wet weather run, but it didn't dampen their enthusiasm! Congratulations to the boys for their hard work and dedication in preparing for their scholarship and CE exams. They now move into an exciting leavers’ programme, which we’ll share more about in the coming weeks.
Today has been a day filled with anticipation, laughter and a real sense of community spirit; exactly what Move Up Day at Moulsford is all about.
