We have so enjoyed welcoming all the children back to School, and it has been great to hear their stories of fun and adventure in the holidays. There has been a real sense of purpose in the classroom this week, and well done to everyone for settling back so swiftly into their studies. The Summer term also offers so many opportunities to make use of the fabulous outdoor facilities that we have at Moulsford, and our staff are expert at doing exactly this.

As part of their China topic, this week the Year 3 children have been working hard in class, music, art and DT to prepare for their Chinese Dragon Dance. This involved making kites, learning drum beats, and painting the dragon’s body. The culmination was a wonderful outdoor performance this afternoon to staff and a number of Year 7 & 8 children. It was a privilege to watch this and particularly special to see the older boys take such an interest in the dance, and then perform it themselves having learnt their moves from the Year 3s!

This all took place on the front field and now that the marquee has come down, against the beautiful backdrop of the main house, with the river in the background. As we start the Summer term, it is worth reminding ourselves how fortunate we are with the wonderful grounds we have at Moulsford, and how important it is that we use them to maximum effect. The landscaping around the Pre-Prep (which was built in 2022) is still maturing, but the hedges, wildflower and grounds are looking so pretty at this time of year. A number of parents have commented on how lovely the Prep School grounds and pitches are looking at the moment, and I am extremely grateful to our grounds staff who work so hard to create not only such a beautiful and calming environment for all of us, but also a giant educational playground for your children.
