Head's Blog: Technology in Schools

Head's Blog

Monday was Safer Internet Day and Alan MacKenzie, an e-safety officer visited the school to talk to boys in Years 6 to 8. Having an external expert speak to the boys is very powerful, and Alan’s talk (delivered to Moulsford boys on an annual basis) backs up the very strong message on internet safety delivered through the ICT curriculum. One specific area which Alan raised boys’ awareness of was “Captology”, by which boys are drawn into and retained on internet sites through various subliminal means. Related to this, I recently gave an interview on online gaming and safety to the Muddy Stilettos blog. Please click here to see the article.

Technology does not stand still, and we held a workshop for parents this morning to help keep you abreast of various developments, particularly relating to our new school portal and social media. We very much hope that My School Portal (MSP) will make life simpler for you by streamlining communications from Moulsford.  It is an evolving system, and we look forward to introducing more elements in due course.  Thank you to the vast majority of you who have already signed up to this, and I would encourage those who have yet to do so, to log onto the system.  Feedback from parents on MSP so far has been extremely positive.  Please contact the School Office if you are having problems with the initial log in.
