Setting the street alight

This week Year 2 made the short trip over to the Prep site to ignite their very own Fire of London. Mr English kindly took responsibility for setting the fire and all those boys who had managed to resist taking their home-made Tudor houses home arranged them into a street scene for their fiery fate. We all discussed the fact that houses in London in 1666 were built very close together which was part of the reason the fire spread so easily. There was a slight breeze in the air on Monday which also, conveniently, demonstrated how the wind helped the fire spread and showed Londoners the direction the fire was moving in. It was a super practical demonstration that the boys were all delighted by.
