Gearing up for the final few weeks
As half term approaches, it's the perfect time to pause and reflect on the wonderful range of activities we’ve enjoyed so far this term — and to begin ‘gearing up’ for the final few weeks, which promise to be exceptionally busy and exciting! This week, the classrooms were bursting with colour and creativity as our Year 1 children designed their very own superhero capes! From dazzling lightning bolts to shimmering rainbow stars, each cape reflected a unique and imaginative superpower — from Kindness Girl to The Mighty Reader! The children proudly showcased their creations in a special class parade. It was a joyful reminder of the everyday powers we all have: kindness, courage, and curiosity. Thank you to everyone who supported the Wallingford Book Fair. The children were thrilled to browse the shelves and discover new stories to treasure. It was heart-warming to see so many of them eagerly clutching their chosen books. Our reading corners have been buzzing ever since, with friends sharing stories and recommending favourites — a wonderful sight for any book lover!
Our Eco Club continues to keep a close eye on food waste during Tuesday and Wednesday lunchtimes. Last week, we recorded 12kg of food waste — the same weight as 10 Chihuahuas! This week’s total was 15kg, or the equivalent of 20 pineapples! The children have been busy discussing how we can turn food waste into compost and encouraging everyone to eat what you take, stay hydrated — especially in warmer weather — and think mindfully about food choices.
As we head into half term, we hope these good habits follow us home: empty plates, full water bottles, and plenty of rest and relaxation. Wishing everyone a restful break and we look forward to welcoming you back for a jam-packed final stretch of the term!
