The Wonderful Wild

Pre-Prep have had the most fantastic Activities Week! We have been inspired by the Wonderful Wild and launched into our week with a trip to the zoo. This did not disappoint! There were a plentiful supply of zebras, giraffes, rhinos, sloths and even a tiger to name a few. Needless to say the bus journey on the way home was a good deal quieter than on the way there. We continued the outward bound agenda the following day by heading off to Cholsey Park. The wildlife there was perhaps a little more familiar but just as interesting nonetheless. Between playing on the park equipment and eating the yummy lunch that the children made themselves we did manage to squeeze in a nature hunt. The most impressive creature found was a small salamander which my research has now proved was a smooth newt.

After our two trips out the remainder of the week has been Moulsford based and the staff have led some fantastic activities for the children. There has been cooking of blondies and homemade ice cream, bird house building, swimming, rock painting, pop up cards and paper plate crafts and lots more. It hasn’t mattered who I have asked and after which activity in response to the question ‘are you having fun?’ I have been met with huge smiles and definitive ‘yeses’. I am sure that as certain things dry the products of the children’s efforts will be brought home to be given pride of place.

We wanted to end our week on a high to match the start of the week so after some scavenger hunts, dance routines and ‘floor is lava’ games we welcomed Crocodiles of the World into school. The children marvelled at all of the facts they were told about the creatures they were lucky enough to be able to see and even hold. They are far, far braver than me!
