Growing independence and maturity

Yesterday, the Pre-Prep children participated in the Whole School Photograph, which is always both exciting and daunting in equal measure. For some, it is one of the first occasions where the very youngest children are lined up alongside the oldest and, in some cases, the tallest! Whilst I am always incredibly proud of our Pre-Prep children, yesterday was a particularly fitting example of how well they are able to follow instructions, participate within a larger group, and listen quietly for extended periods of time.

It was remarkable to see how confidently every child joined in and participated, and I am sure that many staff and pupils noticed just how brilliantly the Pre-Prep children demonstrated their growing independence and maturity. Well done to them all!

Wednesday also saw the Reception children perform the story of Farmer Duck, acting and singing whilst overcoming their nerves and confidently projecting their lines so that every member of the cohort had the opportunity to take their turn, demonstrate the power of their voice, and develop their growing confidence. Remarkable achievements for children aged only four and five.

We look forward in the coming weeks to many more special whole-school events, including Move-Up Day, Sports Day, and the Pre-Prep Awards Ceremony, which will take place closer to the end of term.

Reflecting on my previous comments regarding the importance of Communication and Language, these events demonstrate just how far the children have come during the academic year. Learning to speak and communicate confidently in front of others is a huge milestone for us all, and one that the children should be immensely proud of achieving.
