The role of the Head of Pre-Prep
You may wonder what a Head of Pre-Prep does on a daily basis, and the truth is that one never really knows!
The priority for me and my colleagues is always ensuring that children feel happy and safe when they come to school. Once the doors close at 8:30am, I generally whizz around every classroom, spending five or ten minutes joining in with the start of the day and checking in to make sure that everyone, children and staff alike, is feeling settled and ready for the day ahead.
There are many little things that can arise which may unsettle a child or mean they are not feeling their best. When this happens, we always put the curriculum aside and prioritise human needs first. This often starts with a hug, some time to decompress, and sometimes a quick drink or snack to boost energy levels. Looking after the children and staff is one of the most rewarding jobs anyone could wish for. After all, what could be more important than ensuring that everyone feels happy, valued, and well supported? We know that when our minds and bodies are cared for, our ability to learn, grow, and flourish increases enormously.
I hope that, as a parent community, you feel this too. It is so important that we continue to work together, supporting one another and creating the very best environment for our children.
Wishing you all a very happy weekend ahead.
