Managing Change

We are now in full swing with transition activities as we look ahead to our new year groups in September. Move Up Day today was a real highlight of the week, and every child thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet their new teacher and have a look at the classroom they will be in come September. We were also excited to welcome Miss Gallerwood and Miss Ali to the Pre-Prep, and we came together for a special assembly, sitting in our new classes and welcoming lots of new faces.

Change in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1) is a natural and important part of each child’s journey, helping them to grow in confidence, resilience, and independence. As children move through their early school years, they experience many changes, such as starting school, moving between activities, settling into new routines, and transitioning into a new year group. With the support of caring adults, these moments are made calm, positive, and reassuring, using familiar routines, gentle guidance, and clear explanations to help children feel secure. Each transition is seen as an opportunity for children to develop new skills, build relationships, and gain confidence in themselves. Over time, these experiences help children to feel safe, adaptable, and ready to embrace new challenges with enthusiasm and curiosity. A huge big well done to all of our pupils for their bravery and enthusiasm today!
