A roundup of the week’s fun
Activities Week threw some challenges our way this year with red weather warnings prompting changes to a few of the planned trips and some inventive new plans being created. However, the staff were fantastic, ensuring the week was a huge success with the children all having a truly memorable time.
In the Pre-Prep the children had lots of water play, enjoyed a visit from the ice cream van, an indoor bouncy castle, impromptu sausage dog show and will now be going on their trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park next week.
In Years 3 and 4, the pupils had two days at the Oxford Boat Adventure having fun on the lake and also honing their bushcraft and cookery skills. The rest of the week was spent in a carousel of activities themed around the environment and Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday, including baking their own caterpillar cakes, doing fishy music, crafting and spending time in the pool.
Year 5 spent a day at Cokethorpe enjoying a programme of singing, games and woodland art. They also had time on the river, visited Hellfire Caves, went ice skating and spent two nights camped out at Forest School.
In Year 6 the children headed to Wales with high ropes, gorge walking, hiking and biking all on the agenda! In Year 7 the children went to Normandy and spent time visiting a snail farm, a boulangerie, a goat farm, the aquarium and still had time for lots of fun on the beach. The leavers’ trip in Devon featured surfing, ringo-ing, walking, playing on the beach and enjoying each other’s company before they leave Prep School next week.
