Kindness, Courage and Curiosity in Abundance
At the start of term Mrs Rae introduced a new weekly award: The Pride of Moulsford. This special award is presented in our whole-school assembly and is open to nominations from both pupils and staff. It recognises any pupil who embodies our school values — those who show kindness by supporting others, courage by facing challenges and standing up for what is right, and curiosity by asking thoughtful questions and inspiring those around them. In the Pre-Prep Mrs Gemmell also presents a Pride of Moulsford award in each Celebration Assembly on a Friday.
Through this award, we aim to recognise the everyday actions that reflect the values we expect at Moulsford.
Enormous congratulations to the first recipients of the award this half term:
• Rufus H – Year 8: Rufus has shown kindness and courage when reading with Year 5. He listens intently and goes beyond by asking questions for clarity of understanding. Rufus has also been amazing as a leader in football and in 8O. Leading by example in all areas of kindness and courage. A true role model.
• Risto A – Year 3: Nominated by a number of Year 8's for always holding the door open for them and commenting he wants to live by the school values.
• Finn R – Year 7: When everyone had left the Dining hall after fixtures, Finn stayed and wiped down multiple tables on his own, just to be helpful.
• Hudson L – Year 7: Voluntarily arriving very punctually to his senior paddling activity on a Monday so that he can help all the Year 3s get their boats out of the river. This helps the juniors but also Madame Albon & Mr Symonds!
• Otto T – Year 5: Otto is just an all-round super boy. He displays excellent manners at all times and is always the first to offer to support his friends or adults alike. He is an eager learner and always wants to produce his best.
Pre-Prep Recipients
• William H – Reception: William demonstrates wonderful perseverance in everything he does, always staying focused and determined to complete an activity to the very best of his ability. His concentration shines through as he never gives up until his work is finished with care and effort. Alongside this determination, William shows kindness in the way he treats others, courage when faced with new challenges, and curiosity that drives him to explore and learn with enthusiasm.
• Imogen M – Year 1: Imogen has settled into Year 1 brilliantly, showing her natural curiosity for learning, and her courage to explore new opportunities to develop her knowledge and understanding. Always kind and thoughtful, she has been so helpful in class and has set a wonderful example to the rest of the class.
• Alexander RON – Reception: Alexander has demonstrated the Moulsford value of kindness. He always shows exceptional kindness and helpfulness to his peers and adults.
• Rory S – Year 2: Rory has demonstrated our Moulsford values this term. He is such a kind friend, always looking out for others and enjoying their company in the playground and in the classroom. He has been courageous, gaining his confidence in everyday tasks such as heading to the library to change his books and speaking in front of our class and answering questions. Well done, Rory- keep building on your confidence, you are such a great role model and ambassador for Year 2 and the Pre-Prep.
• Wilfred J – Year 1: Wilfred is such a kind and caring member of the class, who is always very polite and well mannered. His calm approach to school life is infectious, making all around him happy and positive too. He loves to ask questions, showing his natural curiosity and keenness to deepen his knowledge and understanding, and he often likes to chat about new facts that he has discovered. He always begins his work with enthusiasm, even when he finds it tricky, showing courage to persevere and not give up when he is learning something new. What a great attitude to learning and school life.
• Ivy M – Year 2: Ivy is always kind. All the staff comment on how brilliant she is at looking after the younger children at playtime and she always spots when someone is feeling worried or upset and can be relied upon to comfort them. She has a real thirst for knowledge in all our lessons, always putting her hand up and wanting to find out more. This was particularly apparent this week when we had a visitor and she stayed behind to ask him even more questions and, without prompting, said a very big thank you. Ivy is a real asset to the class and really shows our Moulsford values.
