Trip to Pizza Express
Year 1's adventure into becoming a Pizzaiolo began by our lovely host, Summer, reminding the boys of the hygiene required when cooking. The boys enjoyed moulding, patting and flipping their pizza doughs into the air to create the perfect pizza circle. Martin, head chef, came out of the kitchen to show the boys how to mould the pizza into the baking tray and explained why flour is not added to the tray (it burns). The delicious-smelling sauce and mozzarella cheese that the boys expertly added excited all of our taste buds - and further so when placed in the ovens to bake. With the pizzas boxed, we said our thank yous and headed back to school to eat them whilst they were still hot. A day enjoyed by all; and our thanks go to Pizza Express for this community-based initiative that has supported our learning about a balanced diet.
