Author offers insight into life in a refugee camp

After a previous postponement, it was fantastic to finally welcome author Onjali Q Rauf to speak to the boys in Years 4 to 7. Onjali shared with us her experience of working as a volunteer in the refugee camps on the French coast.

Onjali is a bestselling children’s author and human rights activist. She has written a number of books for children, including The Boy At The Back Of the Class, which won the 2019 Blue Peter Award. She was listed as one of the BBC’s 100 inspiring and influential women from around the world for 2019, and was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2022 New Year’s Honours List, for services to literature and women’s rights. Onjali is currently the most popular children’s author on the Accelerated Reader programme and it was fantastic for the boys to purchase some of her books through the brilliant Wallingford Bookshop.
