World Children’s Day
5N presented a fantastic Assembly about World Children’s Day and how children’s rights are not just important, they’re essential.
We watched as the ‘Human Fruit Machine of Rights’ sprung into action as the class talked about the right to play and how some children never get this opportunity as they are working in farms and factories. Next was the right to learn, and we heard that over 250 million children worldwide can’t go to school. Finally, 5N described the right to be safe, and we were introduced to ‘Safety Man’, fighting danger, dodging risk, reminding everyone to wear seatbelts and not lick plug sockets!
The audience were then tested with a true or false quiz about children’s rights around the world where there was shock at hearing that 130 million girls around the world are denied education.
It was a really thought-provoking assembly, delivered brilliantly by 5N and left us with the message that:
• Every child should be safe
• Every child should be loved
• Every child should go to school
• Every child should have a voice
• Every child should have food
• Every child should have clean water
• Every child should have time to play
• Every child should be treated fairly
