The start of Advent
5M delivered a brilliant festive Assembly about Advent – the special time that begins four Sundays before Christmas and prepares us for the coming of Jesus at Christmas. However, 5M explained that Advent isn’t just about waiting for Christmas Day, it is also about hope, peace, joy and love and the four candles on the Advent wreath remind us of that.
The class went through each of the four meanings and acted out scenarios to demonstrate:
- Hope – Even when things feel dark, hope reminds us that light is coming. Hope helps us believe in better days ahead.
- Peace – Peace begins with a small act of kindness – a calm word, a helping hand, or choosing to forgive.
- Joy – Joy isn’t about presents or things. It’s about being grateful, laughing with friends, and finding happiness in sad moments.
- Love – Love is what Advent leads us to – the love shown through giving, caring, and being there for others.
They finished their Assembly by reminding us that waiting for Christmas isn’t just about counting days. It is about making each day count!
