Raising Money for Inspire
Last Saturday, Moulsford's Sports Hall was transformed into a hive of energy, enthusiasm and non-stop football as pupils, parents, staff and Old Moles came together for a hugely successful Football-a-thon, organised by the South Africa Tour Committee in support of the upcoming tour in April.
Between 9am and 9pm, an incredible 144 players took part in a continuous six-a-side fixture, showcasing determination, teamwork and no shortage of competitive spirit. The atmosphere was outstanding from start to finish, with wonderful support from our parents, pupils and staff creating a real sense of togetherness and highlighting the strength of the Moulsford community.
The action on the pitch was just as impressive. After a thrilling day of football involving all year groups, parents, staff and Old Moles, Team Red emerged victorious, securing an overall win by 150 goals to 132. The final two games proved to be the decider with only one goal in it before the Old Moles and then Staff took to the pitch.
A standout individual performance came from Logan W (Year 4), who claimed the Golden Boot after an extraordinary 12-goal haul in a 60-minute fixture. The Golden Boot winners for each age group were as follows;
Year 3 - Leo M (6)
Year 4 - Logan W (12)
Year 5 - Bear M (5)
Year 6 - Jonty R (5)
Year 7 - Max G (7)
Year 8 - Noah C (10)
Old Moles - Lewis R (7)
Parents - Mr Hart (5)
Staff - Miss Appleby (7)
Off the pitch, the excitement continued with the popular Score Prediction competition. Congratulations go to Mr Hart, who made the closest overall prediction and claimed the prize.
Most importantly, the Football-a-thon was a fantastic success in support of Inspire, our chosen charity. Thanks to the generosity and commitment of everyone involved, an impressive £1,317 was raised over the course of the day.
A huge thank you must go to all pupils, parents, Old Moles and staff for taking part and supporting the event so enthusiastically, and most importantly to the South Africa Tour Committee, whose hard work and organisation made the day such a memorable success.
