As Spring tries to establish itself, anticipation mounts for the Years 7 & 8 South Africa Cultural and Sporting Tour. This is such an exciting trip with 69 boys venturing to Cape Town on 7th April, with many parents also following the tour. In years to come we are so looking forward to Moulsford girls joining this very special trip.
The tour is supporting the wonderful charity Inspire with whom Moulsford has a long association from several previous South Africa trips. Tonight’s black-tie dinner in the sports hall is the final fundraising event for Inspire before the tourists depart and promises to be a super night. An enormous thank you to the SA Tour Fundraising Committee, wonderfully led by Triona Roy, who have done a fabulous job in organising the dinner – they have transformed the sports hall and lobby, creating a wonderful Africa inspired environment.
There are clearly so many benefits to the fundraising, but there are two especially important legacies which stand out for me: first the real difference that our Moulsford community has made and will continue to make for Inspire’s children and families; second, the engagement, commitment and contribution that the Moulsford children have given to fundraising, which we hope will become a lifelong passion for them. Collectively they have been outstanding in their approach, demonstrating Moulsford’s value of Kindness in spades. The tour itself will also nurture their courage and curiosity.
Next week we look forward to Year 7 & 8’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which is being performed over four nights ‘in the round’. Tickets are still available here. The cast have worked incredibly hard this term and also enjoyed seeing a performance of the play in Bristol on Monday which was a hugely valuable experience. Thank you to Mr. Edwards and his team for the support and leadership given to the children – roll on next week!
