A lovely half term gone, and a great one ahead
Last night, we held our Parents’ Evening for children in the Pre-School, Reception, and Year 2. It was a lovely opportunity for teachers to share the children’s progress, development, and wonderful activities. My main takeaway as an observer was the care and genuine interest shown by parents as they looked through their children's work. I was truly touched to see the time spent reading, celebrating, and sharing in the many wonderful samples of learning displayed in the children’s books. Thank you.
It has certainly been a busy, and rather rainy half term! We are now looking forward to sunnier days ahead, when we can make full use of our outdoor spaces, spend more time on the fields, and enjoy digging in our vegetable patch.
We have an exciting first week back after half term, including a visit from the Explorer Dome. I understand (having never experienced it myself!) that they will be building a giant tent in our hall for us all to climb inside and explore space and the environment; what an adventure that will be! We will also be visiting High Lodge Farm to experience lambing season and learn how to care for pregnant ewes. In addition, we’ll begin to think about Spring and all it brings - more light, new life, and growth all around us.
On the first Monday back after half term, our Early Years staff are looking forward to a morning of outdoor Maths at Elizabeth House, hosted by the Early Years Alliance. Continued professional development is very important for our teaching team and always provides a fantastic opportunity to gather with colleagues from other settings and share good practice.
We are also delighted that we will be hosting our own Early Years’ workshop for Nursery Heads on Tuesday 17th March. The morning will focus on sharing effective practice in the Early Years, with a particular emphasis on developing communication and language with our youngest pupils. We look forward to welcoming colleagues from a variety of local nurseries and, of course, to enjoying a delicious Moulsford lunch, which is always high on the agenda!
Wishing you all a wonderful and restful half term break!
