For more than twenty years, Moulsford Boarding has thrived under the leadership of the Symonds, the Nobles and most recently the Albons. At the end of the Summer term, Jake and Chantal Albon will step down from leading the boarding house after four outstanding years at the helm, and they will leave a wonderful legacy of a happy and vibrant boarding community. We will mark the excellent service they have given to Moulsford boarding in late June, and we are extremely pleased that they will both continue teaching at Moulsford.
I am delighted to announce that Harry Hogg has been appointed Moulsford's Head of Boarding with effect from 1st September 2026. Harry has taught at Lambrook since 2017 where he has held a number of positions including Assistant Boarding Housemaster, Head of Geography, Assistant Head of Upper School, and Classroom Behaviour and Growth Mindset Lead. Harry is also fully involved in the sports programme at Lambrook with hockey being a particular strength. He also has a passion for water sports, in particular kayaking.
We are so looking forward to welcoming Harry and his family to the Moulsford community. Harry is married to Jess, who is also a teacher, and they have two lovely twin girls, Lily and Amelie who will turn one shortly. We had 39 applications for the role and Harry won through in a very strong field.
Harry is so looking forward to getting to know the Moulsford community and he will be visiting Moulsford on Thursday 30th April when there will be an opportunity for both current and potential boarders to meet him. On this day we are scheduling a time for parents to meet Harry from 5.00- 6.00pm. Further details will follow on this.
On 7th April the Moulsford South Africa Cultural and Sporting tour departs with 69 boys venturing to Cape Town, with many parents also following the tour. In years to come we are so looking forward to Moulsford girls joining this very special trip.
The tour is supporting the wonderful charity Inspire with whom Moulsford has a long association from several previous South Africa trips. In total the Moulsford community has raised the extraordinary sum of over £70,000 for the charity which is an amazing achievement. Roughly £30,000 of this has come from the boys’ fundraising endeavours and we are so proud of all they have achieved. The balance of £40,000 has been raised from events such as the RAC Lunch, the SA Tour Dinner, the Christmas Fair and the sale of merchandise. An enormous thank you for the generosity and engagement shown by the Moulsford community, and particular thanks to the SA Tour Fundraising Committee, wonderfully led by Triona Roy, who have done a fabulous job. This large sum will make a real difference to the women and children supported by Inspire.
Many of you will know Graham Ferguson (Fergie) who has driven your children on our minibus routes over many years, and was previously a highly valued member of our maintenance team. Fergie retires this term, after an association with Moulsford of almost 15 years, and we are so grateful for the super contribution he has made to our community. We will greatly miss Fergie’s wonderfully positive approach to life and his genuine affection and interest in the children, the parents and his colleagues. We wish Fergie a very happy retirement.
