Head's Blog: Reviews and the value of independence

Head's Blog

It’s been great to return to school after the half term break. Your children are on excellent form and got very excited at the glimpse of Spring we had on Tuesday! At the end of last term we welcomed a writer from the Good Schools Guide for an update of Moulsford’s review. She loved her visit, and was charmed by your children. Independently, she also contacted a number of Moulsford parents for their views of the school, and we are extremely grateful for the positive affirmation which you have very kindly given. We feel that the updated GSG review captures the essence of Moulsford and the very exciting co-educational journey that the School is on.

In my message before half term, I referenced the recent extremely successful Open Morning we had just had. I am really pleased to report that many of these families have now revisited the School for a follow-up, or arranged for their children to join us for taster days. In what we all know is a very challenging market for independent schools, we have really good interest for places in September 2026 for both boys and girls, particularly in the current Years 3 and below - it is clear that parents view co-education at Moulsford as a very strong offering. Much of this positive messaging is down to you, our current parents, telling your friends about the super experience that your children are having. Your affirmation is invaluable, and we are extremely grateful for it. Thank you!

In my previous note I also talked about Moulsford’s ‘independence’ and the benefits that this brings - specifically optionality for exit schools beyond Moulsford, and control of our ethos and direction. Please see a recent interview I gave to Muddy Stilettos, which sheds further light on the benefits of independence.

On Sunday we will welcome back to the School the 2021 Moulsford leavers and their parents for football and lunch. This is always such a special day, and living proof that the Moulsford experience for families stretches far beyond their children’s time at the School. Have a lovely weekend.
