What a lovely end of term we have had. There has been a super atmosphere across the whole School and the Moulsford community has fully embraced the end of term festive spirit. The scene was set on Tuesday by the Music Department’s fabulous showcase outside the dining room when the whole Prep community gathered to sing Christmas songs. The Pre-Prep children and parents were then welcomed into School yesterday by a wonderful musical Nativity ‘Tableau’, and we were delighted that Fr. Christmas could also join us! For those of you apprehensive about cooking the Christmas turkey, please take inspiration from our amazing catering team who served up over 400 Christmas lunches across two days. I was lucky enough to be invited to lunch on both sides of the road on consecutive days – yum yum!
The Prep School term ended with the excellent Pantomime ‘Little Red Goldilocks and the Seven Slightly Smaller than Average Bad Wolves’ performed by a cast from Years 7 & 8. It was the perfect way to finish the term and very well done to the children who were great. Enormous thanks to Rory Johnston, who wrote a highly entertaining script, and to Ash Edwards, who co-directed a super production.
Saturday’s Christmas Fair, organised by the Parents Association, was a huge success. Thank you to all the parents, children and staff who gave so generously of their time to make the event such a success. We are particularly grateful to the PA team, led by Alex Bonney and Clemmie Turner (and supported by so many others), who created such a special atmosphere for all to enjoy. Thank you also to Henry Weeks who led a large group of Moulsford families to Bath Rugby Club that evening and organised for our children to have the very special experience of welcoming the teams on to the pitch in front of a full house. As we finish the term, we said a very fond farewell to a number of staff who have given so much to the Moulsford community over many years. Sara Trimmings has been outstanding in running the Pre-Prep kitchens, and the children and staff will miss her greatly. Sabrina McMann joined the School as Head of Pre-Prep in April 2020, going straight into virtual learning! Sabrina led the Pre-Prep community so well during the Covid experience and then oversaw the Pre-Prep’s move across the road creating a wonderful learning environment in this fabulous new building. More recently Sabrina has been the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), an increasingly complex role which requires a special skillset. We are so grateful to Sabrina for all she has done for the School, and wish her, and her family, the very best as she takes a break from teaching to focus on her health and family life. Vicki Rae (Assistant Head-Pastoral) becomes Moulsford DSL from January, and we will welcome Anna Sowray to the Year 5 teaching team in the New Year.
Cecilia McKenzie, who has taught our very youngest children since 2018, also leaves us this term. During this period, Cecilia has given so many children the perfect start to their educational journey and has instilled exceptionally high levels of trust from parents at this pivotal milestone in family life. The relationships that Cecilia has consistently developed with the children in her class and their parents has been wonderful to observe and has been a key factor in Moulsford’s success during her time with us. Cecilia is relocating back ‘home’ to the Dorset / Somerset border and we hope that she will stay in close touch with us.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and look forward to welcoming you all back in January ready for another exciting term.
