Head's Blog: Build up to Christmas

The School has been a hive of activity in preparing for the many productions taking place next week. It has been so lovely hearing and watching children of all ages rehearse, and witnessing the excitement that comes with the anticipation of a live performance.

I have the great privilege of attending all the productions, with each of them being so special and unique. For our little Bobcats, who are at very beginning of their Moulsford journey, their nativity will be their first venture into the limelight. The Pre-Prep nativity, the Year 3 Christmas Play and the Year 4 Christmas Concert are not only wonderful events, but also play such an important role in developing your children’s confidence.  Our ‘showpiece’ event is the Carol Service at Pangbourne College giving a great opportunity for many children to perform to an audience of several hundred. All parents are welcome to attend this Service (7pm start), and a reminder that it is a compulsory event for all children from Year 5-8.

Similarly, we really look forward to welcoming many of you to the Parents Association (PA) Christmas Fair on Saturday 6th December from 10am – 2pm. This is always a fantastic event and a very large thank you to both the PA team who work so hard for the Moulsford community, and to the many other ‘volunteer’ parents, all of whom are pivotal to the success of the day. We are much looking forward to Mrs. Braden’s Junior Choir (all children in Years 3 & 4) and Senior Choir performing. Mrs. Braden is expecting them all in School by 1pm.

While it’s a particularly busy time for the performing arts, it’s been business as usual on the sports pitches. Across Years 3 to 8 this week the children have played 28 rugby fixtures and 1 hockey match. In addition, the School hosted the English Schools Football Association U11 Regional Girls’ Tournament, and we were expecting children to be in 8 cross-country runs on Saturday morning – alas sadly this has now been cancelled due to heavy rain forecast. As ever, we aim to give your children lots of opportunity, quality coaching, and competitive fixtures.

We hope that the breadth of opportunity for both boys and girls outlined above shines through in the latest Moulsford video, which I am delighted to share with you. There will also be three separate video edits which focus on Pre-Prep, Year 3 and Years 7 & 8 which will be published on the website next week. These videos, and the lovely image at the top of the ‘page’ (one of a number of illustrations we have been working on as part of our brand development over the past few months) reflect the School’s transition to co-education.

It will be super to see many of you in the coming week at the many Moulsford Christmas events.
