Head's Blog: Links with Senior Schools

Head's Blog

Moulsford has very strong links with many senior schools and it was an absolute pleasure to welcome twenty-seven of these schools to our Senior Schools’ Fair on Tuesday. This event is designed to give you and your children an introduction to these schools, as you begin to form your ideas of life beyond Moulsford.

The Fair is also so valuable for us as a School in that it helps to develop the strong relationships that we have with these institutions. The fact that so many schools immediately signed up to join us for the evening speaks volumes about how they view Moulsford. Naturally they are keen to attract children to their schools, but they are especially keen to appeal to Moulsford children and their parents. Why is this? Because over many years they have seen the outstanding contribution that both our pupils and their families have made to their schools and communities.

I made a point of spending time with all twenty-seven schools on Tuesday, and this theme was echoed throughout the event. What is more, they were reinforced by their experiences on the day, with numerous stories of very positive engagement between Moulsford children and senior school staff. One school requested that we award a House Point to four children who were outstanding in guiding them to the Sports Hall, and then insisted on helping with their set up for the event. This was so great to hear and goes to the core of Moulsford’s values – Kindness, Courage and Curiosity.

Tuesday’s event opened a new chapter for us as we welcomed a number of all girls’ schools for the first time, and we will continue to build all these relationships so that your children, and you, can reap the benefits. In addition to the Fair, Sarah and I attended a dinner with the Head of St Edward’s this week, and last week we hosted the new Head of Bradfield for lunch at Moulsford. Before half-term, I will also be visiting Abingdon, St. Mary’s Ascot and Cheltenham College, and will have representation from sixteen senior schools at the RAC lunch on Friday 14th November. We are expecting 175+ to attend this event, mostly current Moulsford parents. If you would like to join us please let me know and I can connect you with the table organiser for your year group – [email protected].
