Christmas trees and Nativities

Christmas is now fully underway in the Pre-Prep and we are very much looking forward to welcoming parents next week for the Nativity performances on Thursday and Friday afternoon. Please do join us for a refreshment from 2pm in the Pre-Prep hall before the shows begin. We anticipate that each performance will last no more than half an hour. Following the Nativity, we will return to the classrooms so the children can change back into their uniforms. Parents are then welcome to collect their children from the classroom door if they are not staying for activities. Bobcats children will be dismissed from the Pre-Prep foyer as usual.
This morning, I spent some time sharing in the awe and wonder surrounding my very old and slightly battered Nativity scene in the Pre-Prep foyer. I have still never quite managed to stick the ears back onto the donkey after he nose-dived off the table several years ago - see if you can spot him! It never ceases to amaze me how much joy the children get from looking at—and gently handling—the characters, particularly as they delight in spotting the angels and sheep who regularly seem to move around!

This afternoon, we also took delivery of our Christmas tree and, with the help of the grounds team, I have been carefully dangling more of the children’s beautiful decorations in the hall, ready for next week’s performances. During assembly this morning, we talked through all the exciting things happening across the week—especially the panto, which some children can find a little overwhelming, but we will huddle together, enjoy the festive fun and of course the excitement of a coach ride altogether!

On the very last morning of term, Pre-Prep staff will be gathering outside the foyer to welcome the children with a special surprise to mark the end of term. Please do pop the date in your diaries—as the more the merrier—from 8.00–8.30am on Wednesday 10th December.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and lots of fun decorating Christmas trees!
