Importance of greetings

During assembly today, we talked about the importance of greetings. Saying good morning and good afternoon, hello and goodbye is a key part of learning how to communicate and show awareness of others, and it really does make a huge difference to how people feel. I am always particularly delighted when children say good morning without being prompted, and making eye contact is just as important as the words themselves.

I have asked that every child in the Pre-Prep remembers to greet staff and each other on arrival each day and again when going home. Greetings may look different between friends, family and grown-ups, but a simple hello truly does make such a positive difference to us all.

Mrs Bishop led assembly on Monday and spoke to the children all about the Big Garden Birdwatch, which is taking place across the country. Children in the Early Years have been busy making bird feeders, and great fun was had using binoculars to spot and track the birds visiting the playground!

Look out for top tips on how you can do this at home in your own gardens this weekend!
