Years 3 to 8 compete
Last Friday, we celebrated another highly successful Sports Day in glorious sunshine, with hundreds of parents and supporters gathered to cheer on our pupils throughout the day.
This year’s event for the children in Years 3 to 8 was our biggest and most inclusive yet. Every pupil took part in an additional event, while also having the opportunity to choose between long- and short-distance races, as well as throwing or jumping disciplines. With XXX pupils competing, it was fantastic to see such determination, enthusiasm and sportsmanship on display. Every child embraced the occasion and was eager to showcase their athletic talents to the enthusiastic crowd.
The standard of competition was exceptionally high, and several records fell during the day. New records were set in the Year 3 Long Jump by Joe M, while Levison S established a new Year 4 Vortex record. Oliver B also produced a superb performance to break the Year 7 800m record.
We were equally delighted to see records established in some of our new events. Barney H and Rufus R both set benchmark performances in the Cricket Ball Throw, setting the standard for future competitors to chase.
While the competition was fierce, the day was also a wonderful celebration of participation, perseverance and personal achievement. The support from families created a fantastic atmosphere and helped make the event such a memorable occasion for everyone involved.
Preparations are already underway for Sports Day 2027, and we look forward to building on this year’s successes. We hope to see even more pupils challenging records and achieving personal bests next year.
A huge thank you must go to our site team for their hard work in preparing the track and field areas and supporting the technical setup throughout the event. We are also grateful to our kitchen staff for keeping our marshals well fed, and to all members of staff who contributed through the many roles and responsibilities required to make the day run smoothly.
Most importantly, we thank all of our pupils for their incredible effort, determination and positive attitude throughout the day. Their commitment and enthusiasm were the true highlights of the event.
Finally, special thanks go to Mr Corbett, whose countless hours of planning, preparation and organisation ensured that the day ran seamlessly from start to finish. His dedication was instrumental in making this year's Sports Day such a resounding success.
