New fixtures on the calendar
This term saw an exciting new addition to the sports calendar, as Moulsford and Summer Fields came together for a Minor Sports afternoon – the first of its kind between the two schools. The event featured Water Polo, Badminton, Dodgeball, and Ultimate Frisbee, providing a fantastic opportunity for boys to try their hand at sports outside the traditional games programme.
A total of 32 boys from both schools took part, showing great enthusiasm, teamwork, and a willingness to embrace the challenge of learning new sports. The afternoon proved to be a great success, with plenty of competitive spirit on display alongside a strong sense of fun and enthusiasm.
On the scoreboard, honours were shared. Summer Fields secured a convincing win in the Badminton, while Moulsford impressed in the pool with a comprehensive 6-0 victory in the Water Polo. The remaining two fixtures – Ultimate Frisbee and Dodgeball – ended in hard-fought draws, finishing 6-6 and 3-3 respectively.
The success of this event has sparked interest in expanding the Minor Sports offering, with hopes to include more fixtures like this in the future. Introducing pupils to new sports not only diversifies their sporting experience but also encourages them to discover activities they may wish to pursue beyond school.
