A wide variety of literary events

Reception Trip

On Monday, Wildcats and Tigers enjoyed a trip to the Henley Literary Festival to see the author Karl Newson.  Karl, dressed as a Tiger, read us his new book 'Be You' which was great fun.  The children all got involved and made some fantastic animal noises as the story unfolded. Karl enjoyed interacting with us and answered some of our questions.

Year 1 Trip

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Blast off ... "We Are All Astronauts" according to author Kate Pankhurst; and so it appears we all are, after the interactive fun we had at Henley Literary Festival!  Kate inspired us to believe that we can all achieve our dreams by reaching for the stars.  The drawings that the boys completed were immediate evidence of this as the quality produced through careful endeavour proved we are all artists.  The boys enjoyed leafing through the books and look forward to sharing them and their dreams with you at home.

Year 2 Trip

Year 2 headed to the Literary Festival on Tuesday to hear author, Matty Long, read his book, Who Ate all the Bugs?  Matty hosted an interactive drawing session, where the boys learnt fascinating facts about the tiniest of bugs and how our food chain works! The children really discovered the wonders of the natural world and beyond!

Year 6 Trip

Finally, Year 6 boys travelled to the Festival on Friday for an event with AF Steadman who talked about her book, Skandar the Unicorn Thief. They were transported into a world of bloodthirsty unicorns, unlikely heroes, magic, sky battles and nail-biting races. It was a really fun and interactive session with the boys creating their own unicorns and discovering their own elemental magic.

As ever we all felt extremely grateful that we have such a fantastic literary event on our doorstep.
