Under 10A Boys Crowned Champions
Our Under 10A boys' cricket team delivered an outstanding performance to win The Oratory Cricket Festival, held in the stunning setting of The Oratory, Woodcote, with sweeping views across the Berkshire countryside.
The tournament featured four competitive sides: Moulsford, Dragon, Caldicott, and Chandlings. In our opening fixture, we faced Chandlings, where the boys showed their intent from the start with confident batting scoring sixty nine runs. This was followed by disciplined bowling to claim a strong first win. The momentum carried into our second match against Caldicott, where a similarly impressive all-round performance secured a second victory, bowling Caldicott out for sixty three and chasing that down in seven overs.
After the morning fixtures, the format switched to a 20/20 final, where Moulsford met Dragon in what turned out to be a gripping contest. Moulsford were put into bat and faced some fierce bowling and tight fielding in the opening five overs from Dragon—reminiscent of a closely contested earlier encounter between the two sides. However, our boys dug deep and fought back valiantly, finishing on an impressive 123 runs.
The response from Moulsford in the field was nothing short of spectacular. With energy, drama and determination worthy of a Disney film, wickets were shared across the team, and some dazzling fielding moments—including the removal of Dragon’s key opening batsmen—ensured we bowled them out for 80.
It was a truly memorable afternoon, and the boys can be incredibly proud of their efforts and teamwork. A big well done to Mr Skinner and the entire squad for their fantastic achievement, and sincere thanks to Mr Tomlinson and his team for hosting such a well-organised and enjoyable festival.
